Thanks, Jenny for your article. You' ve a lovely and down-to-earth voice, both on the page and in the concert hall. Anyone who feels differently can just sit on a tack! ;-) Must say re: Renée performing at the Stupor Bowl: it was refreshing to hear the Star-Spangled Banner NOT sung in a ball-strangled manner. Wonder how much she got for that anyways? You know, there were lots of people tuning in just to see her and then switching over to PBS or perhaps their lobby security cam.
Just a note of sincere thanks to Michael, Oliver, Doug and all the other crazy musical guests over the years for the fun podcasts, which have either seen me laughing out loud inappropriately in public places, rushing to YouTube to check out interesting performances I'd not heard of before (Yes, Michael we saw you're on YouTube!) or listening afresh to things like Debussy's Pelléas & Mélisande. Oliver, it was worth the trouble. I know you worked particularly hard on that one.
Keep going guys--it's so affirming to know there are other opera nerds out there listening, talking about this stuff and keeping it alive. Thanks so much!
