The Britten was good, but can't wait for Elixir next time!

OP, what bout my 12-part series on Fiordiligi?

OC, love the corner! Wouldn't mind learning about Fiordiligi but wouldn't necessarily be willing to spend next 12 weeks devoted to the subject. Like your take on singers; don't necessarily like your take on man-flesh. That notwithstanding, looking forward to your insights every week.

I guess I'll have to start my own podcast called Cosi Fan Tutte Now! Michael, can you show me how to produce a podcast?

Re: Philip Langridge on GWD?
I slightly regret choosing that excerpt as an example of his singing. It is a FANTASTIC recording and the one to own of the three (I think) commercial recordings of St Nicholas cantata. BUT, I forgot that when the podcast audio is compressed, softer passages of recordings lose their spaciousness. The effect of the prayer St Nicholas sings also is lost out of context. Right before our excerpt began, the male chorus was basically the score to the Titanic, but better.

Re: My Take On Man Flesh
I don't know what you mean, YBF. But if my penchant for the less fair gender is repulsive to you, Johnny Weir and I will not require your attendance at our upcoming performance of Billy Budd: On Ice.

hey guys. i have the dutch citizenship, tis true. but in my house there are 5 americans and 5 scandinavians--all without the EU citizenship, as well as a lot of americans i know around the area that are fest--have gotten in at the fest level and had their visas approved by the gov't here. whether that means that they go big and have careers...is another story. but i can say that everyone working here is making a living, doesn't need to work a second job, and has health insurance!

Enjoyed the presentation on Britten and look forward to more.
Regarding Domingo singing in English: I'm pretty certain that he sang Menotti's "Goya" in English in Washington DC - wherein his accent made some sense.
I enjoy the podcasts very much! Thanks for your efforts. Now if you guys could just keep from interrupting each other...

Another great show! Thanks for the Britten corner OC, as for Fiordiligi, here is my favorite rendition/clip. Susan Chilcott singing "Per pieta":

As a non-singing music and opera lover I'd love to know what the opera/opera now world's take is on this, and if anyone knows if there are any good recordings of Susan Chilcott, I haven't been able to find much.
